Staff Picks | Top Moments of 2023

2023 was one for the history books here at Music Forward! There were so many outstanding moments this year, but we, the Music Forward Staff, have chosen our favorite standout moments to share as we look back on our 30th year of Music Forward.

Mallory Jackson

“Reflecting on 2023, a standout moment for me was All Access Fest at the Wiltern. As a new team member (I had only started my role 2 weeks prior!), diving into one of our largest annual events was exciting! I was lucky to get the chance to interact with so many inspiring young individuals and introduce them to everything that Music Forward offers.”

Rick Williams

“Seeing the Blues SchoolHouse band live and in-person was an amazing experience!  I loved seeing the very talented professional musicians come together for one common purpose: to inspire and educate youth.  The show was rocking, and the kids (and chaperones) loved it!  What a fun experience.”

Cinnamon Muhlbauer

“There were lots of great speeches at the brunch but Grozier’s words about unity, about the HOB/IHOBF mission that we now carry out brought tears to my eyes. In a world that is too often divided, hopeless and ugly, we are doing our best to bring people together to make a very joyful noise!”

Josh Kitchen

“My favorite moment this year was the launch of our One Million Dreams campaign! I’m so excited that some of our alums like Congressman Maxwell Frost joined us to celebrate our 30th in style. To keep these great moments flowing, please consider donating to the campaign!”

Carly Webster – Intern

“My favorite moment was definitely getting a pep talk from Katrina and Nia when I was stressing about the upcoming semester. Still am, but they definitely helped! So affirming and comforting. They took time from the “biz talk” to make sure I felt okay, and that meant so much.”

Nia Williams

“I have too many to be of any use to you! From All Access Fest Virtual, to this fall’s Industry Sessions series, there were so many moments where I was finally able to put faces to the names of the participants who frequent our programming and tap into the many resources we offer young people looking to get into the music industry here at Music Forward :)”

Nurit Smith

“Our alumni speeches at the brunch were spectacular. Our youth continue to inspire me. They reminded me why Music Forward exists and also reminded me that we have a remarkable generation ready to help us build a vibrant, resilient, and equitable industry and world.”

Adrian Flores

“All Access Fest at The Wiltern holds a special place in my heart. Our Music Forward team united, connecting people through music and education. I was very impressed by how the team persisted in creating an unforgettable event despite the odds. It was more than an event; it was a celebration of what happens when people come together and produce something they genuinely believe in.”
