See You in 2021 Austin!

Dear Friends and Colleagues – due to the official cancellation of this year’s SXSW we will no longer be holding our panels, but below is what we were scheduled to present.  See you next year Austin!

This March, we’re Austin-bound! 

We’re proud to announce that Music Forward will be presenting at this year’s South by Southwest EDU and Music Conferences! As a leader of nonprofit work in the music industry, we are excited to bring our mission to SXSW attendees. Learn more about each of our sessions and mark your calendars to join us at one or both!

PANEL

Music Education: Beyond the Classroom

March 10th, 4-4:30 pm | Location: Austin Convention Center, Ballroom G

 

Presenters: 

Andi Kenzer, National Program Manager & DeMarco White,  Institutional Partnerships Manager

Topic:

Music Forward will host an in-depth discussion about the role that nonprofits play in developing diverse talent in the music industry and connecting passions to professions. 

Areas to be covered include: 

  • Career Exploration
  • Networking and Mentorship
  • Supporting the Needs and Challenges of Young Artists 

Plus, Music Forward Alum Trevor Douglas will share insights from his own journey as a young artist and experience with Music Forward programs to help guide and inspire pathways to success.

This is an official SXSW event and requires conference registration, which can be purchased here. Our sessions are on a first-come, first-serve basis.


MEET-UP

Music & Nonprofits Meet-Up: Agents of Change 

March 19th, 12:30-1:30 pm | Location: Austin Convention Center, Austin Suite

 

Presenters:

Nurit Smith, Executive Director & Nazanin Fatemian, Director of Marketing & Partnerships

Topic:

Music Forward will facilitate a conversation around the role of the music industry as a global agent of change. We will explore the ways that artists, companies, and nonprofits can harness their passion and influence to impact social good. Music Forward will facilitate conversations and networking to identify problems and solutions and how the industry can support and create systemic change through the power of music.
